DHL MIDRAND
MIDRAND | GAUTENG
We were approached by Rawlins Wales & Partners to assist with the lighting design and supply the required lights.
DHL required an intelligent lighting control management system that carries BMS integration capabilities for oversight of the facility energy consumption of the lighting load, and presence states, … along with scheduled reports of operational data and fault reports should any occupancy sensors or light fixtures fail to operate is intended. All this data is presented in a user-friendly visualization that can be interacted with and easily read.
Although data is a driving factor for DHL we cannot overlook the importance of function lighting control. Functions like motion sensing, daylight harvesting, and automated time scheduling are key to meeting energy reduction requirements of the group to ensure they meet their net-zero by 2050 mission.
EXTERIOR:
The building is positioned on a prime site facing the N1 highway and therefore needed to be well-lit, but the light had to be well-controlled to ensure very limited glare in terms of passing traffic.
Car park and perimeter lights:
Istria Amenity lights were mounted at 8.2 meters and are controlled with Bluetooth nodes with the capacity to dim down at certain times of the night.
Entrance:
IP 65 Linear Mini's were mounted in the overhead canopy and Sliver Bollards were mounted on either side of the main entrance stairs.
Side of Warehouse and Canopies:
Istria floodlights and Geo bulkheads were mounted on the canopies and against the building. Nasa lights were installed under the canopies.
Façade of Office Block:
Strip lights were placed vertically against the north and south façades. Brite Walkway lights were placed on the west façade diagonal columns creating a dramatic effect.
