STELLENBOSCH UNIVERSITY CIVIL ENGINEERING BUILDING
STELLENBOSCH | WESTERN CAPE
RLS has had the opportunity to supply Stellenbosch University Civil Engineering building. RLS specified all lighting to be used for this project and an approval process with Triocon, KMH, and the maintenance department of Stellenbosch University was followed. This installation was inspired by our successful Jan Mouton Learning Centre project, which set the benchmark for lighting at Stellenbosch University. The Linear 70 Pro was supplied for the auditoriums, and will now be the luminaire specification used for auditorium lighting at Stellenbosch University.
The Strata was a concept that was envisioned by the architects at KMH. This was a very intricate design the RLS team needed to achieve. Like most projects, RLS was ready to take on the task to make this concept a reality. We faced a few challenges along the way but managed to manufacture the featured Strata. The Sky Pendant was utilized in the foyer areas. The architect made use of the various sizes offered by RLS to cluster the luminaires together while also suspending them at different heights to create feature lighting. The Signa Wing 600x600 was approved to be used for all the general and office lighting, and the Linear Mini 50 for the hallways and circulation areas. These luminaires are suspended in the hallways which creates clean light lines when viewing from either end of the passage.
