DESIGN QUARTER

JOHANNESBURG | GAUTENG

We were approached by the Pamboukian LightDesign and Monty Miller Associates Electrical Engineers to supply a lighting solution for the Design Quarter Shopping Centre upgrade. The central court chandelier was manufactured from drawings based on a design developed by Pamboukian Light Design. The polyethylene light spheres were suspended on stainless steel cables at different heights from a large steel ring which was part of the original chandelier. Synthetic leaves, supplied and installed by Execuflora were attached to the ring and the stainless steel cables to hide the cables and add organic elements to the chandelier. The Cubica highlighted the face brick wall elements along the walkways. The Dante amenity light was installed in the general circulation areas and a section of the car park near the entrance to the main piazza. The Luna low-level directional landscape light was placed in the planters to highlight the trees.  This new Luna range is designed to give highly focused light from a low-wattage source from 1W to 10W. The Shuttle accent light was used to light up the large trees and the Argo post top will be used to replace the existing post top lights. Although not yet complete the centre is already transformed.
