GERMAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL CAPE TOWN
TAMBOERSKLOOF | CAPE TOWN
The German International School Cape Town (DSK) was built in 1875 and is located in Tamboerskloof. The school is systematically replacing and adding new lighting to the whole school. Adding modern lighting to an old historic building is never an easy task and had to be carefully considered to find the right balance.
A-LINE LIGHTING SYSTEM:
With only a few existing lighting points on the ceiling, this system effectively acts like a surface mount conduit to channel the power to where the lighting is required. This also allows for other services like sensors to be wired accordingly. Long continuous lines of lights are used to guide you through what used to be fairly dark corridors. The new lighting gives a fresh new look and adds to the safety of the learners, especially in the stairways.
LINEAR MAXI CONTINUOUS:
The use of Linear lines of light in modern educational auditoriums has been used extensively, as they offer an effective elegant lighting solution. Linear lighting was used in the small but practical Auditorium without making any structural changes to the ceiling.
EXTERIOR:
The Beam double and Solo Eyelid bulkhead were used on the exterior of the building, and works well with the architecture of the building.
