RLS was approached by Claasen Auret Electrical Engineers and Jeremie Malan Architects to provide lighting designs for the many different areas of the new campus.
Covered Walkways: Mini Linears were suspended in this area.
Open Areas: The Penza Post Top was mounted at 4 m and the Thia bollard was used throughout.
Car Park: The Boda Floodlight were mounted on 12 m masts.
Office Blocks: The Luxon 600 x 600 was used in all the offices and circulation areas, complimented with downlights. All the lights are on motion sensors. The optimal working of these sensors was critical as energy-saving was a major requirement in the design.
Workshops: The Nasa light was mounted at between 3 and 5 metres, positioned to high lux levels in the machine operation areas.
Back of house areas: The Nano was used in these areas.
Canteen: The Sage Pendant was suspended at 5.5 m and it was chosen as it suited the minimalist design of the interior of the building.
