Somerset Mall is a 69,000 m² shopping mall situated alongside the N2 freeway near the towns of Somerset West and Strand in the Western Cape province of South Africa.

A few years ago, RLS installed bespoke circular pendants for the passageways of the mall. With the recent upgrades to the food court, RLS worked very closely with Pamboukian Lightdesign, CKB.MDS Architecture, and AOCon Consulting Engineers to assist with the design, manufacturing, and installation of three bespoke spiral feature pendants. Based on renders from the architects, each feature pendant consisted of a bespoke spiral base fitted with about 50 x 1 metre Silo units suspended at different heights, surrounded by a Vista Pro fitting suspended from the ceiling with +/- 60 rods, creating a striking visual effect. Our designers worked closely with the production team, assisting with fabrication and assembly to ensure that the team on site could install easily. The RLS team worked late nights and early mornings to install all three feature pendants in record time.
