The Black House is a beautiful farm-style family home in Benoni, Johannesburg, designed by Drew Architects with interiors designed by Cocoa Bean Interiors and lighting specifications by Lampdrop. The idea of the lighting was to create a soft warm homely feel which would not detract from, yet compliment the architecture and the spaces in which they were being used.
As you walk through the front door, the X-Line lighting system fitted with 405mm Linear modules provides the welcoming light needed with the artwork accented with the 14W track spotlights. The track leads you into the main living room with a special rectangular track arrangement, fitted with combinations of the Linear module and 19W track spotlights, all 1 to 10V dimmable. The open layout of the home leads you outward onto the covered patio which is illuminated with two opposing L shape X-Line tracks, fitted with dimmable Linear modules and 19W track spots, overlooking the garden.
Once you leave the dining and living room areas and move towards the bedroom areas, you are greeted by an impressive 3600mm diameter Vista Pro which fits snugly inside the off shutter concrete slab detail above. The bedrooms are illuminated with the sleek Linear Micro surface mounted fittings which are staggered across the wooden ceilings. In the garages, the Linear Mini 50 was suspended across the entire span and carries that look up into the games room in the mezzanine of the garage.
