MORASHA SYNAGOGUE

SEA POINT |CAPE TOWN

The Beit Midrash Morasha Shul is located in a prime position in Sea Point. The leaders of this congregation purchased the Dutch Reformed Church in the mid-fifties which was part of a property known as Verandah Lodge and proceeded to rebuild. RLS supplied the Vaal Pendant with Elux 140 downlight. The Starr 2 downlight was chosen as the ceiling does not allow for heat dissipation.

Slender lines of light set in the architectural environment are the essence of the Linear LED Cove 33 light system. With its simple elegance and adaptability, it accommodates most design applications. The coves in this application are quite complex with the star shape lines and the hexagon coves requiring attention to detail. The Shuttle luminaire is perfect for surface-mounted up and downlight. It was used to accentuate the narrow space between the windows of the building and light up the antic doors and staircase on the side of the building. The Shuttle ceiling was used for the exterior canopy at the entrance to the synagogue.
