Effective lighting is borne of an understanding of the aesthetic and technical aspects of design and how these relate to the way in which the environment is perceived. The lighting can be functional or decorative or both functional and decorative. At Regent Lighting Solutions we have updated our goniophotometric laboratory to strengthen our test and measurement capacities.
With this goniophotometer, the test light source rotates around its photometric center while the photometer head is fixed. GO-2000 can realize both CIE B-β and C-γ measurement solution. It includes clamps to allow for testing lamps, indoor luminaries, flood luminaries and road luminaires.

SOLAR INSTALLATION FOR REGENT LIGHTING
With the power cuts in late 2014 our investment in a 630 kVA generator 7 years ago allowed Regent to continue manufacturing without disruption to our production process, allowing our staff complement of 270 to complete all required orders before the 2014 annual shut down.
As a company that has been established for over 70 years we make many long term decisions and hence we started investigating our overall power needs for a period of 3 months to establish what alternative energy sources we could utilise. Many expert opinions were sought to make our company more self sufficient and to reduce dependence on the local grid and in so doing rely more on alternative sources of energy.
After much deliberation we decided to select Solar power as the alternative energy source for the years ahead. We are investing extensively in this green technology to enhance our competitiveness in the years ahead.
With a 10 000m square roof space and almost perfect positioning of the roof to the sun it made the decision much easier.
In December 2014 we commissioned the installation of a 300kwp Roof Top Grid-Tied Photovoltaic Solar System, 1200 off 250W Polycrystalline panels will be utilised mounted as per the illustration attached. The system will generate approximately 541 328 kWh per annum and save 549.45 tons of CO2 equivalent to 99 cars being taken off the road per year, 128 homes powered per year and 14293 of trees cleansing the air per year. The total project will take 12 weeks to complete.
The decision taken would not have been possible without the advice and input of Johannes Cronje from Alternative Energy Resources (Johannes@jmcae.co.za) he planted the seed and made us aware of the cost effectiveness of Solar. We received many proposals and solutions for our system but we selected Solsquare Solar System Integrator as Dylan Tudar Jones (firstname.lastname@example.org) as his team offered the most comprehensive solution.
Once the system is fully commissioned we will welcome our clients who are interested to view the system on site as we would like to share our experiences and lessons learnt.
